Madonna Catholic Regional School was founded in 1998. We have students in grades Preschool through 8th Grade and are located at 731 Chess Street in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. The building we use was built in 1962 and was formerly Transfiguration School. Our principal is Kathryn J. Miller, and our affiliate parish is St. Andrew the Apostle and Father Kevin Dominik.
There have been many changes over the past 100 years! At one time, Monongahela had two Catholic elementary schools, St. Anthony School and Transfiguration School, as well as Mon Valley Catholic High School. Over the years, as enrollment declined in the many Mon Valley Catholic schools, they were gradually regionalized and finally merged into one, Madonna Catholic, which remains today. This year, 2023, we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary as a regional school! In 2020, the Diocese of Pittsburgh also regionalized 7 Catholic elementary schools in the South area of the Diocese to form the South Regional Catholic Elementary Schools of which Madonna Catholic is a part.
SRCES-Madonna Catholic is accredited through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, most recently being re-accredited in 2020. We are a proud member of the Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce and have been named “Business of the Month.” We have had Golden Apple award winning teachers and have been recognized for our many service projects aimed at bettering our local community and the world at large.
Madonna Catholic has seen many improvements and modernization of resources over the last 25 years and continues to update technology to stay current with the digital demand of education and academic changes to provide our students with a faith filled and challenging curriculum.
Our school continues to provide an academic community focused on kindness, respect, and responsibility as well as academic excellence. Our students learn, serve, and succeed as they foster a lifelong relationship with God and the Church.
